Maziv, a prominent South African telecommunications company, has significantly improved its financial consolidation, reporting and planning processes by implementing Finnivo®, a solution provided by Infinitus Reporting Solutions.

Established in 2022, Maziv serves as the parent company of leading brands such as Vumatel and Dark Fibre Africa (DFA). The company is committed to expanding connectivity across South Africa, connecting millions of homes and businesses to enable progress, innovation and economic inclusion. Its broader portfolio includes VumaCam, which focuses on safety and security solutions, and BritelinkMCT, a business dedicated to construction and maintenance services.

As Maziv continues to grow rapidly, its finance team began facing challenges in managing financial reporting across multiple entities. Each subsidiary had its own reporting approach, resulting in inconsistencies and a lack of standardisation.

“Consolidating group-wide reports was time-consuming and often manual, which made it difficult to gain a real-time view of the business,” says Aimee Roux CA(SA), Group FP&A Manager at Maziv. “Much of the finance team’s time was spent compiling and validating data, leaving little room for deeper analysis or strategic input.”

Choosing the right tool for the job

The need for a more efficient, scalable reporting solution became clear as the business evolved. Maziv required a system that could simplify financial consolidation, improve consistency and accuracy, and accelerate reporting cycles. It became clear that the company needed a user-friendly interface and seamless integration with its accounting systems.

Finnivo® stood out for its Excel-enabled platform, which aligned well with the team’s existing skillsets, offering a familiar environment with powerful automation features that could be adapted to Maziv’s specific needs.

Growing into the platform’s potential

The rollout of Finnivo® wasn’t without its learning curve. Initially, the team focused on getting the basics right, slowly building confidence in the system. Over time, however, the platform’s full potential became clear. Finnivo® helped reduce the burden of manual tasks and drastically improved the accuracy and timeliness of reports.

“The reporting experience is completely different now,” says Roux. “We no longer spend hours on data gathering and formatting. Instead, we’re reviewing insights and adding value to the business. It has allowed us to step back and think more strategically.”

Clear results and lasting impact

One of the most noticeable improvements has been the automation of financial reports. Previously, these involved preparing 20 to 25 manual slides per entity, often under tight time pressure. Now, most of this is automated, freeing up the team to focus on review and commentary. The budgeting process has also become more efficient and better aligned across entities.

With real-time consolidated views now easily achievable, Maziv’s finance function is more agile and responsive. Reports are more reliable and consistent across the group, and teams can dedicate more time to high-value analysis and forward-looking planning.

Feedback from users has also been overwhelmingly positive. While there was some initial hesitation, the time savings and improved quality of reporting quickly won teams over. Roux says that Maziv now plans to expand Finnivo®’s use into areas such as sustainability reporting and integrating with payroll systems.

Looking ahead

Maziv’s successful implementation of Finnivo® shows the value of a well-scoped, user-driven approach to financial transformation. The company recommends starting with core needs, ensuring strong stakeholder involvement, and making full use of training and support from Infinitus to unlock the system’s capabilities.

With Finnivo® in place, Maziv is better equipped to meet the financial demands of a growing business and remain focused on our broader mission of enabling digital inclusion across South Africa,” concludes Roux.
